UPDATE: Today I am giving myself a pat on the back. Since my last post of being disappointed in myself, NO-NOT DISAPPOINTED (compassionate or kind or something) I really wanted to be able to rectify said post with a bunch of activity. And here it is.
Yesterday, Tom and I hiked a 3 hour “strenuous” hike in the hiking book. It should be noted that none of the hikes we’ve hiked have been strenuous (according to the author) nor 3 hours long-and we still thought they were killer. So this 3 hour strenuous hike was notable. It involved “scrambling” along a mountain wall that if you took a wrong step, you would tumble to your death into the ocean. And this was at the end of the hike where you were thinking “if that happens, I’m ok with it, because then this would be over”.
Remember when I said I would start my kettlebell swings yesterday. Well, I didn’t think it through. (here I go forgiving myself again) So, I didn’t swing in the morning, and then when we survived the hike, my legs didn’t work anymore. How could I even swing? Thankfully, my arms still worked enough to run an epsom salt bath and have a nice big glass of red wine.
I got over my disappointment in myself quicker today **progress!**
Today we cleaned out the office and made an little meditation area. We also went for a nice long walk along the water, and when we got back- I SWUNG THAT DAMN KETTLEBELL. And it took like a total of 5 minutes. So I can just go ahead and stop with the excuses right now. **progress again**
The picture is of an abandoned copper mine along our hike. That is as close to it as we got. We were too scared to get any closer, and really, if something ran out at us, we couldn’t run away due to exhaustion. I’m super curious about what’s in there and I would like to invite you to come on this hike with me and go in there and check that out. Please. Also-I’m pretty sure a cougar lives in there. And not the fun kind-like me.
