So I’ve been working on this stupid business course.  And I call it stupid because it’s hard.  It’s hard in the way that it makes you have to do things you don’t really feel like doing.  Like examining your feelings and the why behind things and shit like that.  Like there is a section where you have to write 7 stories about yourself.  And they don’t mean hilarious stories about when all your furniture blew off your 16th floor deck.

So I was mentioning this to Mom the other day when we talked for 147 minutes on the phone the other day.  I was complaining about how some of the stuff is out of my comfort zone.  For example,  one of the tasks is to ask about 25 of your closest people “what do you think are my strengths?”  Before I could finish that sentence, Mom said, ” Oh, I know what I would say for you.”

This is when I prepare myself to feel real good.  What is Mom going to say about me?  Like, this is just mom and me talking, it’s going to be excellent.

She says, “Procrastination”

So, Mom thinks that one of my strengths is procrastination.  And yes, I know.  She missed the point of the question.  She just thought it was THE MOST OBVIOUS QUALITY to mention.

I found this TED talk on Procrastination and not only is it hilarious, but its totally accurate.  It’s only 14 minutes long- please watch it now. Procrastination TED talk

The thing is, this year off thing has me freaking out a wee bit.  I have basically removed all excuses from my life and all deadlines.  I am well aware that time is ticking away and I really don’t want to waste a day of it.  But I don’t really have a “deadline” like when I was working.  So I’m trying to figure out a way around this “procrastination” strength of mine.  I make large lists in the morning every day of the things I will get done, and for the most part, I’m getting them done.

So on that note, I’ve made a totally anonymous survey regarding my strengths.  I won’t know who said what, so if you are like Mom, and think one of my strengths might be “procrastination” or “watches too much TV”, I won’t know you put that on there.

Kerri’s Strength Survey

PS:  Those are temp tattoos in the picture to all those wanting to tell me I have too many tatts.

Well Kerri, I won’t use the survey to answer those questions, nothing to hide here… 2 of your biggest strengths – 1) your sense of humour 2) your ability to have people sit up and take notice and listen to you ?
As far as the tv thing…hard to answer that. Was wondering if we could have access to the camera in your apartment…perhaps we could help you more! ??
