Literally in the same boat
First I need to say- OMG WE HAVE WIFI. I will admit to having a problem. Moving on…
Arrived in Male, and the weather was beautiful, the water was gorgeous and our hopes were high. The boat was better than expected!
Our room was cozy, and it took me back to Whitney Lake camp. I slept well at nap time and then a solid 10 hours every night while it rocked me to sleep.
After watching a gorgeous sunset, we were all pretty stoked about what the week would hold.
Turns out if you are considering living on a boat in the middle of the ocean, you should also consider the weather. It rained nearly everyday. And that makes the ocean angry. Which then makes everyone on the boat angry.
Good thing there were books and vodka. Our group of 8 people read 23 books. And one person didnt read any. So out of the 8 people, 7 of us got along quite well. Lucky for me, that 8th person was not my roommate.
Every day we snorkelled twice a day. It was the highlight of the day and it was like snorkelling inside an aquarium. We found both Dory, and Nemo. And then all the other fish in every other Disney under the sea movie.
Other activities included hitting some islands and parking at some sandbars.
Once again I had to do laundry again. This was more difficult on the boat-i bet Tom would have done a fine job.
We ate so well on that boat. Like, too well. French toast for breakfast, fresh coconut for after morning snorkel, pasta for lunch and then big curry dinners.
So now Ive arrived at Summer Island. Im here for 5 nights of recharge before i head off to Africa for one month. I really enjoyed the people (most) in our tour group. Most of them have travelled all over the world and it was quite fun talking to them about their trips and also their perspectives on the world. I hope my next group is as good as this last one.
