Alma TED vs. PRP: Comparing Hair Restoration Treatments
Two in-office approaches to thinning hair, with genuinely different mechanisms. Neither is universally better, and the evaluation matters more than the technology.
Hair Restoration
A pain free, non-invasive, needle-free approach to hair restoration that uses low-frequency ultrasound and air pressure technology, offered from our downtown Santa Barbara practice for appropriate candidates with thinning hair.
Overview
Alma TED is a non-invasive, needle-free approach to hair restoration that uses low-frequency ultrasound and air pressure technology as part of its trans-epidermal delivery approach.
Kërfree Aesthetics is proud to bring Alma TED Hair Restoration to downtown Santa Barbara. As the only Alma TED Hair Restoration provider in downtown Santa Barbara, the practice offers patients access to this specialized non-invasive hair restoration technology in a private, one-on-one setting.
How it works: rather than using needles, incisions, or blood draws, Alma TED pairs low-frequency ultrasound with gentle air pressure to help carry a topical hair and scalp formula through the surface of the scalp toward the follicular environment. Alma TED is not a laser treatment.
This approach is designed to support the scalp environment around follicles that are still active, and it is often considered by men and women exploring non-surgical hair restoration in Santa Barbara for early to moderate thinning, reduced density, increased shedding, or a widening part.
Alma TED is not appropriate for every type of hair loss, and response varies from person to person. Candidacy, the number of sessions, and the overall plan are determined following professional evaluation of your scalp, history, and goals.

Benefits
No injections, incisions, or blood draws — treatment is delivered through the surface of the scalp using ultrasound and air pressure technology.
In appropriate candidates, Alma TED may help improve the appearance of thinning hair and support a healthier-looking scalp environment. Results vary.
Most patients describe treatment as comfortable and are able to return to their usual routine, though individual experience can differ.
Results
Kerri begins with an evaluation of your scalp, hair history, and goals to determine whether Alma TED is an appropriate option for you.
During a session, the handpiece is moved across the treatment area while ultrasound and air pressure support delivery of the topical formula. No needles are used at any point.
Because hair grows slowly, change is gradual by nature. Some patients notice differences in shedding or the look of density over a period of months, while others respond differently — hair restoration outcomes vary and cannot be guaranteed.
A plan of multiple sessions is common, with spacing and maintenance based on your individual response rather than a fixed formula. Progress photographs at each visit make gradual change easier to judge.
Alma TED may also be discussed alongside other aspects of scalp and skin health at consultation, so the overall plan reflects your goals.
